Family fought Cobb school board for 4 years over autistic child's education
FYI – Please distribute this article far and wide.
The Beem family wants others to know how much taxpayer $, YOUR money, is spent on NOT educating a child with autism. I will never forget sitting in this meeting while the school district is recommending placing this already traumatized little child in their psychoNOed facility, putting her in a padded room, dressing this supposed educator up in a protective suit and provoking her to see how she responds. It was the craziest thing I have EVER heard, and still ever heard in over 12 years of advocacy. Who in their right mind would do this to a child, ANY child, esp. a child with autism and anxiety and who has already been traumatized in an orphanage? Thank goodness Libby’s parents would NOT allow it and have fought for her rights to be appropriately educated by the Cobb County School District ever since, while educating her themselves at great personal sacrifice. It appears the only ones getting rich here are the school district’s attorneys. SHAME on them!
